Biography

Ron Lang starred in both indoor and beach volleyball. He played in college at Southern Cal, but began playing beach in the mid-1950s, winning the 1956 Sorrento Men’s Open with Dick Davis. He later paired on the beach with Gene Selznick and Ron Von Hagen. Between 1957-70 Lang won more than 50 beach tournaments, winning over 20 with Selznick. Indoors Lang was nine-times 1st-team All-American between 1958-67, and played on three AAU Championship teams. In 2003 he was named to the USVBA’s 1953-77 All-Era Team. He also named by them to the 1928-77 Beach All-Era Team, and in 1992, was inducted into the US Volleyball Hall of Fame.
