Biography

Bjørn Larsson’s first sporting interest was ski jumping but, after World War II, he turned to wrestling. Competing in the lightweight division, he first reached the national podium in the freestyle category when he was runner-up at the 1950 Norwegian Championships. He then won the title for the next three years and was selected to represent his country in the tournament at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. There, he was eliminated in round two.

Larsson took up orienteering in his later years and was active in the sport for decades thereafter, being the only competitor in the 90+ age category in 2014. He also worked as a coach and administrator in this sport. By career, he worked in horticulture.
