Biography

Reşit Karabacak was a freestyler who wrestled at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. His biggest international achievements came at the 1985 and 1987 European Championships, when he won bronze medals in 90 kg freestyle. Karabacak competed at three World Championships, in 1977, 1983, and 1987, finishing fourth in 1977 and fifth in 1983. At the Mediterranean Games he was a gold medalist in 1983 (middleweight freestyle) and 1987 (light-heavyweight freestyle).

Karabacak became a coach, eventually leading the Turkish national team. He died in 2020 from COVID-19 during the pandemic.
