Biography

After prepping at the Hill School near Philadelphia, Andy Fitch attended Yale, winning an NCAA Championship his senior year. In 1963 he won a gold medal in flyweight freestyle at the Pan American Games, although he wrestled Greco-Roman at the 1964 Olympics. Fitch later attended graduate school at Columbia and earned a Fulbright Scholarship. He later became a teacher of creative writing. In the early 1970s Fitch attempted to start a professional league for legitimate wrestling, but it did not succeed financially. He is a member of the Westchester County Sports Hall of Fame.
