Biography

Along with Friedrich May and Norbert Wagner, Hans-Joachim Berndt sailed in the three-person keelboat Soling class at the 1972 München Olympics. The West German boat finished 11th at Kiel.

Berndt was later considered one of the pioneers of German advertising, especially in the film advertising industry. During his studies (business administration and psychology in Hamburg and Kiel), Berndt learned his skills as a camera and sound assistant on various film productions. In 1978, Berndt founded the predecessor of the New Constantin Film Munich and, from 1979, developed the commercial film advertising productions at Filmhaus. Berndt himself earned multiple international merits (380 awards in Cannes, New York, London etc.), which considerably enhanced his own filmmaking and musical career.
