Charlie Hoag was a member of the Kansas team which won the NCAA championship in 1952 and was one of the six Kansas team members who played for the 1952 Olympic champions. However, Hoag was primarily thought of as a football player. He was the starting halfback for Kansas in his junior year, and was named All-Big Eight halfback his sophomore and junior year. After the Olympics he returned to Kansas for another football season but injured his knee very badly and never played either football or basketball again. However, he was a four-sport athlete at Kansas, also lettering in baseball and track. After college he made his living as an insurance broker
