Biography

Like his fellow Olympic gold medalists, Christopher Boardman and Miles Bellville, Leonard Martin was a member of Tommy Sopwith’s crew when the Endeavor challenged for the America’s Cup in 1934. Martin served in the RNR from 1917 to 1919 and after the war he entered the family business as a wholesale tobacconist. He was a member of the Royal Burnham Yacht Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club.
