Well known in the Canadian yachting scene, Harry Wylie was a longtime sailor who co-founded the English Bay Star fleet in 1922, an organization that continues to hold numerous races in Vancouver, British Columbia’s English Bay. His most notable international finish came the following year, when he placed second in the 1923 Star International Championships. When the Canadian Yachting Association was founded in 1932 it sent Wylie, along with Henry Simmonds to compete in the two-person Star class event, where they finished fourth in a field of seven teams. He continued to sail for the rest of his life and was named an Honorary Life Member of Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in 1947.
