Biography

Athlete Josefine Lauterbach was Austrian 800 metres champion in 1927 and therefore qualified for the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, but was eliminated in the heats. She set several Austrian records over 800 and 1,000 meters.

Lauterbach was also active as a handball player with ASV Hertha Wien (Vienna) and a football (soccer) player with DFC Austria Wien (Vienna). She helped Austria win the national championships in 1936 and 1937. Lauterbach worked with the Wiener (Vienna) chocolate producer Küfferle.

Personal Best: 800 – 2:29.8 (1927).
