Biography

Born in Rollegem-Kapelle Gérard Bertheloot moved to Kortrijk where he worked in a bicycle factory. Bertheloot was a member of the Union Sportive Gantoise athletics club where he specialised in the 400 and 800 metres. At the Belgian Athletics Championships he won bronze in the 400 metres in 1926 and 1928, and silver in the 800 metres, also in 1928. Bertheloot then ran in the 800 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but was eliminated in the opening heat of the race. He died quite young at the age of 44 in October 1950.
