Biography

Ivanka Vancheva was a javelin thrower who competed at the 1980 Moskva Olympics, finishing fifth. She was a three-time Bulgarian champion, winning in 1977, 1980, and 1986. Vancheva won two silver medals in javelin at the Universiade, in 1977 and 1979. She competed at the 1978 European Championships, placing 12th. Vancheva was ranked three times in the world top 10, placing #5 in 1977, #10 in 1979, and #9 in 1980.
