Biography

Alfonzo Marquez was a shooting guard who played basketball for the Philippines at the 1960 and 1968 Olympics. He had been captain of the Mariwasa team that won the 1968 Manila Industrial Commercial and Athletic Association (MICAA) title. Marquez played in college at University of Visayas, leading them to an upset win over Ateneo in the 1957 Filipino Intercollegiate Championships. He later played at the 1959 World Championships.

Marquez’s career was as an executive with Meralco, where he ran their Kamuning branch. He was later brought to the main office in Manila and was in charge of government accounts.
