Biography

Harry Lawson’s track career began in his native England and he first gained notice domestically at the turn of the century. He was sixth in the marathon at the national championships in 1903 and 10th in 1904, but then moved to Canada in August of that year. He won that country’s Olympic trials for the 1908 London Olympics and represented Canada at the Games, where he placed seventh. He continued to compete in marathons for another year, but then retired from active competition before the 1912 Stockholm Games. At the time of his Olympic participation, he worked as a shoemaker.
