Biography

Finnish track and field athlete Reijo Halme started out as a long jumper before switching to sprinting. Halme won the silver medal in the long jump at the national championships in 1920. Two years later he won bronze in the 100 metres and 200 metres before becoming the national champion in both events at the 1924 Finnish championships. These performances earned Halme a spot on the Finnish athletics team for the 1924 Paris Olympics where he ran in the 100 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay. He was also scheduled to run in the 200 metres in Paris but did not start the race.
