Biography

Finnish track and field athlete Vilho Hietakari competed in long-distance running races as a representative of Viipurin Urheilijat in Helsinki. At the 1921 Finnish relay championships Hietakari won silver in the 5 × 2,000 metres race. The following year at the Finnish championships he won the bronze medal in the 25,000 metres. Hietakari was selected to run in the marathon at the 1924 Paris Olympics but did not finish the race.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-50:46 (1923).
