Throughout the 1930s Finland’s Onni Rajasaari was one of the best triple jumpers in Europe. Rajasaari won seven consecutive Finnish titles in the triple jump from 1933 to 1939, with him also becoming the national long jump champion in 1938. He won bronze in the triple jump at the 1934 European Athletics Championships in Torino before winning gold in the event at the 1938 championships in Paris. Rajasaari also competed at two Olympics; 1932 Los Angeles and 1936 Berlin, finishing 11th and 13th, respectively. He continued to put in strong performances at the national championships, winning silver in the triple jump in 1940, 1942, and 1943.
