Biography

Just three months before the 1948 London Olympics, middle-distance runner Dick Morris wore spiked running shoes for the first time. The previous winter, he had been spotted running in a cross-country event, wearing a pair of old rubber-soled slippers. Morris served as a captain in the Royal Engineers at the time of the Olympics and, as well as winning representative honours for the AAAs, Great Britain and England, he also represented the Combined Services in the International Military Championships. He won the 1949 and 1950 one-mile title at the Army Championships. His best AAAs finish was second in the mile to Bill Nankeville in 1949

Personal Bests: 1500 – unknown; Mile – 4:11.2 (1949).
