Biography

Derek Pugh had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1950 British Empire Games 4×440 yards Relay (with John Parlett, Les Lewis, and Terry Higgins); 1st in the 1950 European Championships 400 metres, 1st in the 1950 European Championships 4×400 metres Relay (with Martin Pike, Les Lewis, and Angus Scott), 2nd in the 1946 European Championships 4×400 metres Relay (with Bill Roberts and the non-Olympians Ronald Ede and Bernard Elliot), 3rd in the 1946 European Championships 400 metres. In the 1950 British Empire Games 440 yards Pugh finished fourth. In the British Empire Games he competed for England.

Personal Best: 400 – 47.3 (1950).
