Biography

Javelin thrower Ute Hommola won the bronze medal at the 1980 Moskva Games. Two years earlier she won the same medal at the 1978 European Championships. In East Germany she never won a national title, but was runner-up in 1975, 1979-81, and third in 1974 and 1984. After her active career, Hommola became an agricultural engineer for animal breeding. She worked in a Landwirtschaftliche Produktionsgenossenschaft (Agricultural Production Cooperative) in the former GDR, and after reunification, in an agricultural cooperative.

Personal Best: JT – 67.24 (1981).
