Biography

Doris Maletzki was educated as a finance economist and later became a manager in the Regional Soccer Association of Berlin. After German reunification she was employed by the German Olympic Institute. She was a 400 metre sprinter but was internationally successful only with the 4x400 relay, winning gold medals at the 1976 Montréal Olympics and 1974 European Championships. Domestically she won East German relay titles in 1975-76, and indoors in 1973. Her only individual title came in 1976 in the indoor 400. Maletzki set two individual indoor world records over 200 and 400, and also three outdoor relay world records. Her twin sister Eva also became a sprinter.

Personal Best: 400 – 50.34 (1976).
