Biography

East German Hilmar Hoßfeld placed 11th with the discus at the 1980 Moskva Olympic Games, which were boycotted by many Western nations. This was his only international competition. In 1980 and 1983 he was runner-up at the East German Championships, also placing third in 1981 and 1982, but he never won a domestic title. Hoßfeld was educated as an electrician and owned a company in his hometown of Erfurt.
