Biography

Steeplechaser and long-distance runner Ralf Pönitzsch participated in the 1980 Moskva Olympic Games, but was eliminated in the heats. He finished second at the 1979 World Cup and fourth two years later. At the 1981 European Cup he came in fifth. Nationally he won six East German titles in different distances.

Personal Best: 3000S – 8:23.14 (1981).
