Biography

Between 1947 and 1958, Romeo Romanutti played 11 seasons in the first league of Italian basketball. He started with Ginnastica Triestina (1947-48), then joined Lega Nazionale Trieste (1949-50), but enjoyed his most successful years with Olimpia Borletti Milano between 1950-58. Romanutti won six Italian titles, and was twice the league’s top scorer. He ended his playing career in 1961 after spells with Ignis Varese (1958-1960) and Pallacanestro Vigevano (1960-61).

Romanutti won 51 international caps, and scored 499 points. He made his début in a friendly against France at Paris in January 1948. He competed at the 1948 London Olympics when Italy finished in 17th place, and at the 1951 European Championships in Paris, when he helped Italy to a fifth place finish.
