Biography

Elke Barth was a graduated social education worker. She set one world record in 1975 in the 4×440 yard relay in Durham, North Carolina (USA). She was a sprinter who concentrated on the 400 metres. Her only national title was the 1975 indoors. Barth twice reached the final of the 4×400 m relay at the European Championships in 1974 and 1978, placing fifth both times, as she had at the 1976 Montréal Olympics.

Personal Best: 400 – 52.27 (1975).
