Biography

Middle- and long-distance runner Charlotte Teske was married for many years to the renowned long-distance coach Dieter Teske, but they later divorced. She won the Miami and the Boston Marathons in 1982, the Frankfurt Marathon in 1983-84, won the 1986 Berlin Marathon, the 1987 and 1988 Hamburg Marathon, and in 1990 won in München. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics she came in 16th.

At the 1980 World Championships Teske finished seventh in the 3,000 metres, and in 1983 retired after 33 km in the marathon. In 1982 she placed 12th in the marathon at the European Championships. She also participated several times in the International Cross-Country Championships. Domestically she won 14 West German Championships over different distances. Teske trained as a nurse and later worked as a non-medical practitioner in her own practice.
