Biography

Uwe Becker was also nominated for the team at the 1980 Olympics but could not take part due to the US-led boycott. Four years later he failed in the semifinals over 1500 metres. His brother Volker was also a middle distance runner. Uwe took part in the European Championships in 1978 and 1982 (6th place over 1500 m) and won German titles in 1980-81, 1983-85, and 1988 (1500 m indoor), 1983-85 (1500 m outdoor), and several cross-country and 4 x 1500 relay titles.

Personal Best: 1500 – 3:34.84 (1983).
