Biography

The son of former wrestler Heinrich Eberle, Wolrad Eberle died in 1949 following injuries received as a prisoner-of-war in Russia. His wife was non-Olympian sprinter Ursel Göpfert from Berlin. Eberle captured a decathlon bronze medal at the 1932 Olympic Games, also winning the German national title that year. He was national runner-up in 1930, 1933, and 1934. He also won a silver medal at the World Student Games in 1933. Eberle was educated as a sports teacher.
