Biography

Greek track and field athlete Antonios Karyofyllis represented Panathinaikos where he specialised in the high jump. Karyofyllis was the Panhellenic champion in the event on four occasions (1924–26, 1928). At the 1924 Paris Olympics he finished in 19th place with a best clearance of 1.70 metres. Four years later at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics Karyofyllis again finished in 19th place, this time with a height of 1.77 metres. For the Amsterdam Games he was also the flag bearer for Greece at the Opening Ceremony. His brother Ioannis also competed at the Olympics in the high jump.

Personal Best: HJ – 1.85 (1928).
