Biography

Rezső Ujlaki started competing in the colors of Temesvári AC in 1909. In 1910, he became a district champion in Timisoara. He participated at the 1912 Olympics, where he competed in the discus throw, both with one- and both-hands, but due to a a knee injury, he was at less than his best. In 1913, he won a Hungarian championship in the discus. In 1916, Ujlaki joined the athletic division of MTK. He broke Hungarian records several times.

In World War I, Ujlaki served on the Eastern front and was shot in the head, but he recovered and won the Romanian Championship in discus and javelin in 1921 and 1922. As a consequence of his war injury, he was treated in a mental hospital in Lugoj.

Personal best: DT – 45.54 (1913).
