Biography

Elio Ragni was an Italian sprinter between the two World Wars. Internationally he was mainly known as a 4x100 relay runner. Ragni finished fourth at the 1934 Torino European Championships alongside Edgardo Toetti and the non-Olympians Umberto Di Blass and Mario Larocchi and helped Italy to a silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Between 1930 and 1939 Ragni earned nine caps.

With the presence of strong athletes like Toetti in the 100 and Tullio Gonnelli in the 200, Ragni never won a national title, but with his club, Sport Club Italia Milano, he won three national 4x100 relay titles in 1930 and 1936-37, the last two alongside his Olympic teammate Orazio Mariani.

Personal Best: 100 – 10.7 (1937).
