Biography

A middle-distance runner, Neville Myton competed at both the 1964 and 1968 Olympic Games. He was a bronze medalist with the Jamaican 4x400 relay at the 1967 Pan American Games where he also finished sixth in the 800 metres. At the 1966 Central American and Caribbean Games, Myton won two gold medals – in the 800 and 4x4, while at the British West Indies Championships, he won gold in the 1,500 metres in 1965 after a silver in that event in 1964.

Myton attended college in the United States, first at Mesa Junior College, followed by San Jose State University. He returned to Jamaica where he became a coach, notably at Vere Technical. In 2006 the Jamaican Government awarded Myton the National Award of the Order of Distinction, Officer Class.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:46.5y (1964); 1500 – 3:53.6 (1970).
