Biography

Mitsue Ishizu competed in women’s discus and javelin throw at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. Domestically, she was particularly successful in the discus throw, winning four consecutive national titles from 1931-34. She also set several national records, mainly with the discus but also in the shot put. After graduation from high school in 1932 she entered Nikaido Gymnastic School (later Japan Women’s College of Physical Education).

Personal Best: DT – 39.64 (1935).
