Biography

Oscar Guttormsen was an all-around athlete, winning 17 Norwegian Championships in nine different events, adding 10 silver and 11 bronze medals, all in the period from 1903 to 1910. His best event was the triple jump, in which he finished fourth at the 1906 Intercalated Games and 14th at the 1908 London Olympics. In 1906 and 1909 he won the King’s Cup as the best athlete at the Norwegian Championships. In 1920 he moved to Nøtterøy near Tønsberg, working as a travelling agent for ship / naval equipment. He later moved back to Oslo, working as a manager in a firm in the same business. He died in Oslo in 1964, aged 79.
