Biography

Norwegian all-round track and field athlete Edvard Larsen won his first medal at the national championships with bronze in the 1,500 metres in 1899. The following year Larsen won gold in the triple jump and later won three more national titles in the event (1906, 1908, 1911). He was also a two-time national champion in the long jump (1906, 1908) and won silver in the 100 metres in 1911. As a specialist in the triple jump he was initially selected to compete at the 1906 Intercalated Games but did not start. Two years later, however, Larsen had his best international result when he won bronze at the 1908 London Olympics. He returned to the Olympics four years later for the Stockholm Games where he came sixth in his favoured event.

Larsen married Anna Sofie Sørensen and they had just one son. He worked as an electrician and machinist. Sadly he was only 32-years-old when he died two years later after suffering with a long illness.

Personal Best: TJ – 14.39 (1908).
