Biography

Middle-distance runner Oscar Larsen specialised in the 800 and 1,500 metres and won nine medals, including five gold, at the Norwegian championships. Larsen won his first medal at the championships in 1908 when he came second in the 1,500 metres. He had to wait three years for his next medal when he did the double in becoming the national champion in both distances, repeating the feat in 1914. His final gold came in 1915 when he won the 1,500 metres. In 1908 Larsen ran in the 1,500 metres at the London Olympics but did not advance for the heats. Four years later he ran in both the 800 and 1,500 metres at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics but again did not progress from the heats.

Personal Bests: 800 – 2:03.5 (1911); 1500 – 4:18.6 (1912).
