Biography

Norwegian all-round track and field athlete Edvard Natvig represented Oslo Politis IL where he specialised in the decathlon. He won nine medals at the national championships with his first podiums coming in 1929, when he won bronze in the high jump and silver in the decathlon. The following year Natvig won gold in both the high jump and the pole vault, before winning a third national title in 1934 with gold in the decathlon. Four of his nine medals came in the javelin throw with three silvers (1933, 1935, 1938) and a bronze (1937). Natvig finished tenth in the decathlon at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. While he had some decent performances in the field events, including the best throw in the javelin, he was let down by his poor results in the sprint event, finishing last in the 400 metres.

Personal Bests: HJ – 1.91 (1936); Dec – 6298 (1936).
