Arvīds Ozols-Bernē started his athletic career as a sprinter but later focussed on shot put and discus throw. At the 1910 Russian Championships in Riga, he won the title in the discus and placed second in the shot put. One year later he won another silver in the shot put. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he was 21st (second to last) in the shot put and subsequently abstained from competing in the discus throw.
