The apex of Nataliya Sokolova’s career came at the 1976 Olympics, where she reached the quarter-finals of the 400 and won a bronze with the Soviet 4×400 relay. At the 1974 European Championships, Sokolova won bronze in the 4×400 relay and was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 400. She also won the 400 silver at the 1977 Universiade and a 4×400 relay bronze at the 1977 World Cup. Sokolova won two Soviet titles – in 1973-74 in the 4×400 relay, also winning a 1977 silver and 1976 bronze in the 400.
