Biography

Dave Abbott ran for the University of Illinois, where he studied engineering, and the Illinois AC, although he had never run in high school. He did not survive the heats of the 5K in his only Olympic appearance. Abbott was NCAA Champion at 2 miles in 1928-29 and AAU steeplechase champion in 1929.

Personal Bests: Mile – 4:24.4i (1929); 2 miles – 9:23.7 (1929); 5K – 14:54.6e (1928).
