Biography

Jim Doehring threw the shot at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1992. He also won silver at the 1993 World Indoor Championships. Doehring was US Champion in 1990 and was runner-up in 1989 and 1992, with the 1992 meet doubling as the Olympic Trials. Doehring served a drug ban between the 1988 and 1992 Olympics after he tested positive for anabolic steroids. He attended college at San Jose State University here he was third at the 1985 NCAA Meet. Doehring was the 1982 US Junior Champion.
