Biography

Egon Erickson won the AAU high jump in 1909 and the AAU indoor high jump in 1912. He also finished third in the AAU high jump in 1913 and 1916. Erickson competed for the Mott Haven AC in 1912 but also represented the Irish-American Athletic Club during his career. Erickson was born in Sweden but was brought to the US by his parents when he was only 3-years-old. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1909. He joined the New York City Police Department in 1911 and served until 1939, at which time he was with the Detective Bureau.
