Biography

Pete Shmock finished second at the 1972 NCAA shot put. At the AAUs, he placed in the top six for seven consecutive years (1974-80), with best places of third in 1975, 1977, and 1980. He competed for Oregon and the Southern Cal Striders.

After finishing his track career Shmock briefly took up surfing. However, he later became a weight and conditioning trainer with the Seattle Mariners, and starting his own fitness consulting business. In 2002 he opened his own health club, Zum, in Seattle. In addition to fitness training, by 2010 Zum offered massage therapy, chiropractic, naturopathy, acupuncture, and weight-loss programs.

Personal Bests: SP – 21.11 (69-3) (1976); HT – 50.87 (166-11) (1972).
