Biography

Roland Spitzer ran track and cross-country at Yale, captaining the cross-country team for his last three years. At the IC4A Meet, Spitzer placed fourth in the 880y in 1909 and fourth in the mile in 1908, while competing for Yale. He returned to his native Toledo after graduation, and became a clerk in the bond house of Spitzer, Rorich & Company, the family firm. He was promoted to assistant sales manager in 1913 and served in that role until his early death in 1916.
