Biography

Nikola Kleut was a Yugoslav track and field athlete who represented in SK Jugoslavija in Beograd. Kleut specialised in the discus throw and the shot put, winning several titles during the 1930s. In 1932 he was the Yugoslav champion in both events before going on to win three more national titles in the discus throw (1933, 1936, 1938). He also won medals at the Balkan Games for the first time in 1932, with gold in the shot put and silver in the discus. Although he did not win another title at the Games he did win four more silver medals, all in the discus (1933–34, 1936, 1938). Kleut represented Yugoslavia at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he competed in the discus, but did not advance from the qualifying round. He was only 38 when he died in 1946 in an accident in the fire room of the Beograd railway station.
