Ladislau Peter was a talented track and field athlete who won multiple Romanian titles during the 1920s. Peter did the double in the national athletics championships in the 100 and 200 metres on five occasions (1921, 1923–24, 1926–27), setting a national record with his winning time in the 200 metres in 1927. He won three titles in the standing high jump (1923–24, 1927), two titles in the standing long jump (1921, 1924), and one title each in the triple jump (1921) and the high jump (1923). He also set Romanian records with his individual wins in the triple jump and high jump. Peter was selected to run in the 100 and 200 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but he did not advance from the heats in either race.
