Biography

Jana Bode started her active career in East Germany, becoming European Youth Champion in 1987. She placed third at both the 1990 European and World Championships. After reunification she moved to Northrhine-Westfalia and became German Champion in 1990, 1991 and 1994. Bode won singles bronze medals at the World Championships in 1990-91, and silver medals at the European Championships in 1990 and 1994. Her best year was 1996 when she won both the World and European Championships in singles. In mixed team competition, Bode won three silver medals in major internationals, the 1996 Worlds and 1990 and 1994 Europeans. After not qualifying for the 1998 Winter Olympics, she retired.
