Biography

Vera Krasnova’s best season was 1972, when she won silver in the 500 m at the European All-around Championships, the only one in which she participated, and she then repeated this result at the Sapporo Olympic Games. She finished the season with her second Soviet title at 500 m. She had won her first Soviet title at 500 m in 1969 and would win her third and last Soviet title over 500 m in 1976.

As a true sprinter Krasnova took part in the World All-around Championships only in 1969, but without much success. She also took part in five World Sprint Championships, but never medaled, her best finish of fourth coming in 1975. Krasnova made her last international appearance at the 1976 Olympic Games, where she was fifth in the 500 m.

Personal Bests: 500 – 40.96 (1976); 1000 – 1:24.0 (1977); 1500 – 2:19.48 (1977); 3000 – 5:13.1 (1970).
