Biography

Erika Netzer was an Austrian alpine skier who participated at the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics. She did not finish the giant slalom but placed eighth in the downhill. Her best international year was in 1962 when she won a silver (giant slalom) and two bronze medals (slalom and combined) at the World Championships. Domestically, Netzer won the Austrian slalom, downhill and combined titles in 1959, and the giant slalom in 1963. She also won several FIS races. Sadly, Netzer died fairly young at the age of 40 due to a liver illness.
