Ute Noack finished eighth both in the 4x5 km cross-country relay and the 5 km individual cross-country skiing event at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, representing East Germany. She also placed 15th and 18th in the 10 km and 20 km events, respectively. Two years earlier Noack won a bronze medal at the Nordic Skiing Worlds with the East German relay. During her time competing for GDR she was given doping pills (oral turinabol) without her knowledge by officials and coaches, and she later gave birth to a severely disabled son.
