Biography

Rosalynn Sumners was World Junior Champion in 1980, and then won the US Senior title in 1982, 1983, and 1984. Her 1983 season was her best, winning Skate America and the World Championships, in addition to her national title. After her 1984 Olympic silver medal, Sumners turned professional and skated first with Disney on Ice, and then Stars on Ice, touring professionally until 1999. She later married her agent, Bob Kain, vice-president of IMG. In her hometown of Edmonds, Washington, the former 5th Avenue has since been renamed “Rosalynn Sumners Boulevard,” and after her World Championship, she was named “Honorary Mayor” of Edmonds.
